Survey of a Halkaalu

Sundays are mostly boring in villages because of no work to do. Just like every Sunday, boredom was soon to hit my head. But as the clock struck ten o’clock my phone rang. It was my beloved teacher and supervisor of the survey team. By my fortune, he invited me to join the survey of a beautiful valley of halkaalu.

Our journey began after tea. And we started traveling towards the west. As the car moved forward, lush green fields began to disappear from the sight and tall mountains were in front of us.

We passed the green wheat crops to reach the spiky and spiny hills. But that was not our destination.

The speed of our car began to slow down gradually as we were going upwards.

After some time it started raining. We were in the middle of peaks. Valleys covered by thunders were looking awesome from the car.

After the ride of half an hour, we reached a junction.  From there the journey of a bed of roses turned into thorns.

It was the road of rocks. We had to pass that jumpy, ferrous, and high road which was not even constructed.

Now we were traveling down the valley. It was difficult to ride on that road but the risk was for that beautiful valley, which soon began to appear.

We stopped the car at a point for a while to take photos. It was difficult for us to decide whether to see the beautiful valley under our feet or those black thunders on the front hills. We took photos in front of the government middle school there and again started to go down.

Our car then stopped near the primary school from where the roof of houses can clearly be seen.

And after reaching our destiny i.e. the valley of green lush fields covered by high mountains, we started findings other companions of survey team.

The beauty of the valley is unable to explain but to access there is also hard work to do.

There is a charm and even the chirping of birds can be heard. But there is a struggle for the people even for the basic needs.

People use donkeys and horses to take water from far-off areas. There is no shopping center near the area. Never try to go there if you are patient.

After some struggle, we met our colleagues with the help of local people. People there are kind-hearted. Their hospitality is up to mark. They greet us warm-heartedly. They are simple and pure. Their sincerity adds more beauty to the area.

After our work is done we left the area. We concluded that if these people are given opportunities and the roads in the area are rebuilt, the prosperity of the area can be expected.
